“In the activity, Attend to the quiet. In the silence, Attend to the form. Listen to the stillness, To the core within. Always present, Not in opposition To movement”

CHANTEK MARY MCNEILAGE

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website

Just to give you a little background.  My interest and passion in mindfulness, movement and related contemplative disciplines started more than forty years ago.  I have a background as a complementary therapist using body-centred therapies, pre-natal & birth, craniosacral therapy and integrative psychotherapy.  Some of my work over the years has involved working with special needs children and running in-depth process groups in the UK, Europe and America.

My formal training from 2006 in mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, comes via the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, Bangor.  I continued to train and develop other areas of mindfulness including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life, Finding Peace in a Frantic World for the workplace, Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living and Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness with David Treleaven.  I have taken the MBCT-L training into schools for a research project with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and I taught courses of MBSR and MBCT-L in High School education both to teachers and students.  Living near Cambridge I have delighted in offering mindfulness in nature at the Cambridge Botanic Gardens.  I am registered as a teacher and supervisor with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches and offer supervision for trainee and experienced teachers of mindfulness-based approaches and Distance Learning Programmes for the Mindfulness Network.

It is with a deep love and respect for this work that I share, teach, and support these benefits of practice and skills with others. What I value most and open towards, as best I can, as a group facilitator, teacher and supervisor are the qualities of attentive listening, holding safety, support, warmth, depth, humour, kindness, compassion and clear reflection.  During the time of the Pandemic, a worldwide community has emerged offering practice, connection and sharing.  I work with individuals, couples and groups, and co-facilitate retreats both online and face to face and run an ongoing practice group.

One of my other passions is as a volunteer for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) where the combination of the children and the sensitivity of the ponies offers an extraordinary experience both developmentally and in sheer enjoyment!

If you would like more information, please do get in touch.

With Warm Wishes ~ Chantek
